I absolutely love Thailand! The last time I went was about three months before the tsunami hit, so I'm not quite sure how much rebuilding has been done. The people are so kind, and generous, and the food is great. Most of all, the beaches are just fabulous.
i know right..can you say sex tourism capital of the world...exciting.

Omg. As I was just taking the longest break from my study, I stumbled upon your thread, and you have no idea how much this thread has made my day. I would like to thank you Taiyou and everyone on behalf of Thai people so much for bringing up this topic. I would never expect for such a great feedback since there are so many negative stereotypes about our countries (from the movies, news, protests, etc). Hope you guys have a wonderful vacation and stay safe! ps- anyone heading to Thailand this summer? :) You'll gnna like it if you like hot and humid weather hahahah bikinis and sun-bathing all the wayyyyy.

What a coincidence! My brother's a go-cart racer, but I doubt my dad'll take him up to Chiang Mai for a practice, but i'll def gives him headups next time around when we plan to go up north. :)))
I've been there three times and I LOVE it! I can't wait till I go there next time! They have really good prices and the people there are sooo nice. The beach and the beautiful, beutiful water is amazing.

MALAYSIA, BUT STUDYING IN THE UK,
@Ellis D. Then you're missing out on several great countries, mine included ;)I love Thailand, seeing as it's next to Malaysia. I've been to Bangkok loads and visited some of the islands as well. Bangkok is a shopping haven and every time I go, I bring suitcases of clothes back. Love it!The food is SO good, love the tomyum gung, pad thai, thai green curry etc.People are friendly enough.Transportation (the trains) is convenient in Bangkok. Ace!

I'm in love with Thailand. I've been twice, once with my dad when I was 17 and once with my boyfriend earlier this year. We stayed in Bangkok for a few days and then headed over to Koh Samui for 9 days. Absolutely beautiful country and the most hospitable people I've ever met. The only downside about my time on Koh Samui is that we were there during the full moon so with the full moon party just one island over, the main town was just full with young party goers which made me feel a little old haha. We mostly just stayed in the quieter bars with older people there.

Im thai! So obviously, i love thailand. My advice is not to hang around where all the tourists hang around coz then youre not really seeing the country! A lot of the touristy areas are overpriced and not really thai at all! The food, the shopping and the culture here is the main attraction. We're called "the land of smiles" for a reason! If you are coming to thailand do let me know and id be happy to recommend places that will be good to visit! Ps. The death penalty laws for drug related charges are only for big time drug dealers that sells masses of heorin and meth and stuff like that. You obviously cant get executed for smoking a joint or having some weed on you coz that would be ridiculous. We dont even execute small time dealers. (sorry i just hate it when ppl say stuff when they dont even really know the whole truth about it)

My boyfriends friend is Thai and lives in Bangkok so she told us some really great bars to visit. Can I remember what they're call now? haha no! I do remember we went to Cheap Charlie's quite a bit which was fairly close to Nana BTS, and also this cool jazz roof top bar by Ratchathewi BTS I think? It was above a place called Eat Am Are.

ah sounds awesome! if you guys like jazz bars then you should hit up this place called 'Fat Gutz' and 'Iron Fairies'! They're in Thonglor and just a 2 mins walking distance from each other! I always go to those two places in one night coz they're so close to each other, music is great and food is amazing! it's hard to get good western food here in Thailand but because these two places are owned by a western guy, they do really good western food! i do need my western food fix sometimes lol. do you guys come thailand often? x

Haha well whenever I'm in Thailand I try and eat as much Thai food as possible. I can get western food any time I want :-P Plus it's sooo cheap over there. Thai food can be quite expensive most places in London. My boyfriend visits Thailand almost once every year. He's been twice since I've been with him for a year and a half. Once last May with his mum, and again this May just gone with me. His mum is originally from Malaysia so whenever they go, they normally stop over in Malaysia at some point and occasionally Singapore which I'd love to visit too.We spent overall 5 days in Bangkok (three days at the start of our holiday and twi days at the end) and then the rest of the time we were on Koh Samui. I love it so much there we're even thinking of living over there for a while. He works for IBM so as it's a global company it should be fairly easy for him to secure a position over there. I really want to go and teach English but I'm told it's very difficult if you don't have a degree. Especially if you want to teach in the city. I just love Bangkok so much. I'd go there tomorrow if I could! The only downside I found was that there were quite a few seedy bars near our hotel which is a bit off putting. And sometimes the drains would stink to high haven haha.I tried fried insects while I was over there. There's a lady that sells them by Nana BTS. They were so delicious!! can't find anywhere in London that sells them though :-( Oh and there was this great little bar right in the middle of the big market near the park? I forget what it's called but we spent pretty much all day in there :-)
aw sounds like so much fun! glad you have such a good time here! and glad that you're trying all the local stuff too! i mean, you're more daring than me if you've had the insects! so props to you for that! ;)you could always try and find out about teaching in schools here. There are tons of international schools you could work at, or you could even teach english to the Thai kids at the local thai schools. but i really don't know anything about the qualifications or whatever they might be needing from you. yea there definitely are seedy bars here, so i just avoid them lolz, they make me quite uncomfortable too! my boyfriend is british (he's moved here with me now for almost a year, we've been together almost 5 years) and the ladyboys here are always chasing my boyfriend...which really weirds me out lol. p.s. you should post some looks btw!! <3
A pretty place, a shopping and culinary paradise, extra cheap living costs, but damn hot and humid. Love Thailand so damn much :)
